Signalment: 13.5 yrs, Neutered male, Standard Poodle
Presenting Complaint: Dyspnea for the past 4 days
Presenting History

He has had a cough for the past 2 months. Over the last 4 days the owners not that his rate and depth of respiration have increased markedly. Additionally he demonstrates orthopnea (difficulty breathing when recumbent). The owners describe a restlessness at night when sleeping. He is otherwise alert and eating well.

Physical exam revealed a grade 5/6 left apex and right mid heart pansystolic murmurs. No gallops were detected. One premature beat was noted on physical. Lungs sound were harsh with fine inspiratory crackles noted at the end of inspiration.
